At least three people were killed in an apparent explosion at a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department training facility on Friday morning, authorities said.
The deadly incident happened at the Eugene Biscailuz Center Academy Training in East Los Angeles, which is about 5 miles east of L.A. City Hall.
“I just spoke to @USAttyEssayli about what appears to be a horrific incident that killed at least three at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi posted to X.
“Our federal agents are at the scene and we are working to learn more. Please pray for the families of the sheriff’s deputies killed.”
The office of California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statement that the governor had been briefed on the “reported explosion.”
“The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, @Cal_OES, is in contact with the Sheriff’s Department and closely monitoring the situation, and has offered full state assistance,” the statement posted to X said.
