NEON released the first teaser trailer for Osgood Perkins’ next horror film, Keeper, today, and it is excellent. That’s all I came here to say, and frankly, that’s all I’m able to say because the teaser gives absolutely nothing away. I mean, I don’t know if the movie will be good, but this right here? This is how you cut a teaser! Various women in various different eras turn to the camera as if seeing someone they know, at first happily and then with increasing disgust and fear. The music gets more discordant until eventually the women are shrieking while covered in blood. Then the screen cuts to black and you hear the film’s star, Tatiana Maslany, say, “This place isn’t right for me.”
At least, I’m guessing that’s Maslany’s voice. She does not appear in the trailer otherwise, but IMDb says she is in fact starring in the movie alongside Rossif Sutherland (Possessor). You know how studios usually include the cast and synopsis beneath trailers on YouTube? Not this time. NEON just recites the film’s perfectly symmetrical, opaque tagline, “You’re not right for this place.” I was able to find a bit of a plot synopsis via Deadline, and I’ll include it below for those of you who are curious, but I truly don’t think it’s necessary. Keeper is rolling out of the gate on vibes and the reputation Perkins has built after Longlegs and The Monkey, and I respect that. The “Go girl, give us nothing” of marketing, but make it a compliment!
Keeper hits theaters November 14, 2025.
via Deadline: “The new film, starring Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor), follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm (Sutherland) suddenly returns to the city, Liz (Maslany) finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets.” There, happy now? It’s a haunted house story … probably.
And George Clooney broke up Tenacious D, apparently?
