Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is back at Nevermore and bringing some new faces with her for season two of Netflix’s Wednesday: Season 2. The showrunners had a good time filling out the cast for the new season. They’ve added Dame Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper (Doctor Who), former Uncle Fester Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Heather Matarazzo (Welcome to the Dollhouse), and Lady Gaga.
Returning cast members include Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, Fred Armisen, Emma Myers (A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder), Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, and Jamie McShane as the Sheriff.
Part one of Wednesday: Season 2 begins streaming on August 6th, with part two coming on September 3rd on Netflix.
Don’t ever get comfortable thinking you understand Yorgos Lanthimos’s career trajectory. He loves to work with the same stable of actors, especially Emma Stone and (recently) Jesse Plemons. But you’re never going to get the same story twice. His next one is Bugonia, about some guys who kidnap a powerful CEO because they think she’s a space alien in disguise, intent on taking over the world.
I, for one, am ready to welcome our new overlords. Especially if they all look like Emma Stone.
But I digress. Bugonia also stars newcomer Aidan Delbis, comedian Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone. It premieres in theaters on October 31st.
I don’t know what happened after Sound of Metal. I’m just glad director David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) figured out where Riz Ahmed had been shelved and dusted him off for Relay.
I don’t care how boring Sam Worthington and Lily James are, Riz has my full attention. Relay looks like a lot of fun. It opens in theaters on August 22nd.
