Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is being billed as a “long-awaited sequel” to the beloved 1984 comedy classic This Is Spinal Tap. I don’t know about all of that. But this trailer looks better than I anticipated. Christopher Guest has been honing his mockumentary skills to a fine point since 1984 with Waiting For Guffman, Best In Show, and A Mighty Wind. If we can’t trust him and Rob Reiner to pull this off, who can we trust?

Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer all return for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues featuring Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, and Questlove.

This week I learned that almost half of the Pajiba staff hasn’t seen the original. They have time to fix that before the sequel opens in theaters on September 12th.

Five Nights at Freddy’s was a surprise hit in 2023. Objectively, it’s a terrible movie, but a whole lot of people watched it. I think Blumhouse is pushing its luck with a sequel.

In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the animatronics have left the building. No longer confined to their franchise location, maybe they’ll track down the creators of the first one and eat them.

Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, and Piper Rubio reprise their roles from the first movie. The sequel also stars Theodus Crane, Matthew Lillard, Freddy Carter (Pennyworth), Wayne Knight (Seinfeld), McKenna Grace, and Skeet Ulrich

It opens in theaters on December 5th.

If Willem Dafoe came to your door and asked to rent your unfinished basement, would you say yes? What if he offered you $65,000? Would you say yes then? Corey Hawkins (The Piano Lesson) is about to find out the hard way that no good can come of that offer in The Man In My Basement.

The Man In My Basement will premiere at TIFF this September and then come to theaters and Hulu.

Last week, I brought you a cool cat anime courtesy of Tori as lagniappe. This week, I’ve got a crass animated dog cartoon courtesy of James Feld. It’s all about balance, people.
